Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly — physical, emotional, psychosocial and family support needs to drive care decisions
• Organize and coordinate all aspects of critical care, tailoring interventions to each patient’s needs
• Evaluate patient progress and correlate clinical information to ensure goals on the care plan are met
• Collaborate and consult with multidisciplinary team members to implement total patient care
• Document care accurately and timely in Epic and maintain an up-to-date skills checklist pertinent to SICU

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 2+ years of SICU experience — required
• Open Heart trained — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications — required
• Prior travel assignment experience — preferred
• Epic EMR experience — preferred
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years and an up-to-date ICU skills checklist
• Candidates must live outside the facility’s 50-mile local radius restriction (facility will not consider local candidates)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing with strong pre-operative and post-operative care skills
• Advanced patient assessment and care coordination
• Experienced with nursing process and clinical decision-making in high-acuity settings
• Collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with Epic EMR for documentation and care planning
• Competence in cardiac/critical care protocols and open-heart post-op management
