Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 3x12: Days 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (3 shifts/week) or Nights 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week); includes weekends and variable weekend coverage; first-week orientation Monday-Friday days; second-week 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor. (Day/Night rotating schedule; self-schedule requests accepted.)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity progressive care (PCU) nursing for oncology and telemetry patients with vigilance and compassion
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
- Perform and manage vascular access care including peripheral IVs, PICCs, central lines and port access
- Administer and monitor blood products, IV therapies, PCA pumps and follow heparin protocols
- Manage respiratory supports such as HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care, and interpret ABGs
- Respond as a member of rapid response/code teams and act quickly during emergencies
- Care for chest tubes and surgical drains and support wound care including wound vac management
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—pharmacy, respiratory therapy, PT, social services and more—to coordinate excellent patient care
- Adhere to infection prevention/isolation precautions and participate in fall-prevention practices
- Document accurately in Epic to ensure continuity and quality of care
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license (eligible to practice in California)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; oncology preferred but not required
- Must meet experience requirements within the last 3 years with at least 1 year of current specialty (PCU/telemetry) experience for clinical pass
- Certifications required: BCLS (BLS), ACLS and NIHSS
- Experience with telemetry, high-acuity PCU care, and rapid response/code team participation
- Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record for charting
- Ability to float to equivalent or lower acuity units as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN/ADN/BSN)
- BSN preferred where available
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- High-acuity PCU nursing and cardiac monitoring
- IV therapy skills: starting IVs, peripheral IV care, PICC and central line management
- Blood product administration and adherence to transfusion protocols
- Management of cardiac drips (including titration where applicable) and heparin protocol familiarity
- Respiratory interventions: HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy care and ABG interpretation
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and surgical drain care
- Feeding tube care and enteral management
- Infection prevention, isolation precautions and patient fall-prevention strategies
- Experience or comfort with oncology-related tasks (chemotherapy administration/monitoring preferred), wound care and phlebotomy
- Proficiency with Epic charting and unit-specific equipment (GE telemetry, Alaris pumps, bladder scanner, PCA pumps)
