Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a correctional medical setting, following policies and protocols
• Assess, document and monitor patient conditions, communicating changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to coordinate care and ensure continuity
• Maintain safety, security and infection-control procedures appropriate to the facility
• Deliver patient education and support, promoting dignity and respect
• Participate in mandatory training and maintain required certifications

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — California licensure highly preferred
• Prior medical-surgical or correctional healthcare experience is a plus (but strong clinical fundamentals matter most)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS preferred or obtainable shortly after hire
• Demonstrated reliability and ability to work a consistent night schedule (site requires strong attendance)
• Ability to pass required background and facility clearance processes

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and documentation skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy familiarity
• Knowledge of infection control and universal precautions
• Ability to triage, prioritize and respond calmly in urgent situations
• Comfort working in a structured, secure institutional environment
• Clear communication and teamwork skills with clinical and custody staff
