Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that aim for meaningful functional gains
- Collaborate daily with nurses, therapists, physicians and families to coordinate care and discharge planning
- Document progress clearly and timely in the patient record and contribute to team treatment goals
- Provide education and training to patients, families and caregivers to support carryover of strategies
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute clinical expertise to improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
- Active Massachusetts SLP license or ability to obtain state licensure
- ASHA CCC-SLP credential preferred or in progress
- Experience working in inpatient rehab, acute care or skilled nursing settings is a strong plus
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and a team-player attitude
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in dysphagia evaluation and management, including clinical bedside assessments
- Proficient with speech, language and cognitive-communication treatment approaches
- Comfortable with goal writing, outcome measurement and progress documentation
- Effective communicator with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with electronic health records and therapeutic billing/documentation practices
