Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and EKGs to keep patients safe and informed
• Provide high-quality progressive care nursing for patients requiring closer observation
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while following facility protocols
• Perform and document NIH Stroke Scale assessments when clinically indicated
• Chart patient care timely and thoroughly using Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Float between like units as needed to meet patient care demands while staying within scope
• Prioritize patient safety and advocate for best outcomes in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina required (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred
• BLS, ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• EKG competency required; candidate must pass the unit EKG exam with no exceptions
• Experience with Epic charting strongly preferred
• Comfort working 12-hour day shifts and meeting a 1:4-5 patient ratio
• Willingness to float between like units and work every-other-weekend
• First-time travel clinicians are welcome to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation skills
• Proven progressive care / PCU clinical knowledge
• Comfortable with telemetry and handling acute patient changes
• Proficient in Epic electronic charting
• Solid medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to manage time and prioritize in 12-hour shifts
• Familiarity with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and ACLS protocols
