Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition on the medical-surgical/telemetry unit, maintaining safe care at a 1:5-6 ratio
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms to identify and escalate changes in patient status
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to policy
• Document care thoroughly and promptly in Epic, ensuring continuity and quality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Provide clear patient and family education to support recovery and reduce readmissions
• Float within scope to like units as needed to meet facility staffing needs
• Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state authorization required prior to start; pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Charting experience in Epic is required
• Comfortable working night shifts and able to cover every-other-weekend
• Able and willing to float between similar units when needed
• First-time travel nurses are welcome

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Proficient with Epic electronic health record documentation
• Solid medication administration and IV skills
• Excellent clinical assessment and prioritization abilities
• Teamwork-oriented with clear communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently during high-acuity periods in a Level III trauma/teaching hospital environment
