Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients of all ages in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Perform therapeutic respiratory procedures and manage mechanical ventilation for adults, pediatrics and neonates
- Administer and monitor BiPAP/CPAP therapy and ventilator settings to optimize patient outcomes
- Perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs), EKGs and cardiac stress testing accurately and efficiently
- Interpret basic cardiac arrhythmias and communicate findings to the clinical team
- Document assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly in the medical record
- Collaborate with Respiratory Director, Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
- Participate in in-service training and continuing education to maintain and expand clinical skills
Qualifications
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Maine (required)
- NBRC certification as CRT or RRT — or eligible to sit for the RRT exam within one year of start
- Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program (CRT or RRT credential recognized by NBRC)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) optional/preferred
- At least 2 years of clinical respiratory experience preferred; new graduates will be considered
- Ability to be available for on-call shifts as required by the department
Education
- Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited Respiratory Care program (CRT or RRT)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and respiratory care principles
- Skilled in mechanical ventilation management across adult, pediatric and neonatal populations
- Experience performing and interpreting PFTs, EKGs and cardiac stress tests
- Proficient with BiPAP/CPAP therapy and ventilator troubleshooting
- Competent in arrhythmia recognition and basic interpretation
- Excellent clinical documentation, communication and teamwork skills
- Patient-centered approach with strong assessment and critical thinking abilities
