Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients of all ages in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Perform therapeutic respiratory procedures and manage mechanical ventilation for adults, pediatrics and neonates
• Administer and monitor BiPAP/CPAP therapy and ventilator settings to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs), EKGs and cardiac stress testing accurately and efficiently
• Interpret basic cardiac arrhythmias and communicate findings to the clinical team
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly in the medical record
• Collaborate with Respiratory Director, Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Participate in in-service training and continuing education to maintain and expand clinical skills

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Maine (required)
• NBRC certification as CRT or RRT — or eligible to sit for the RRT exam within one year of start
• Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program (CRT or RRT credential recognized by NBRC)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) optional/preferred
• At least 2 years of clinical respiratory experience preferred; new graduates will be considered
• Ability to be available for on-call shifts as required by the department

Education

• Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited Respiratory Care program (CRT or RRT)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and respiratory care principles
• Skilled in mechanical ventilation management across adult, pediatric and neonatal populations
• Experience performing and interpreting PFTs, EKGs and cardiac stress tests
• Proficient with BiPAP/CPAP therapy and ventilator troubleshooting
• Competent in arrhythmia recognition and basic interpretation
• Excellent clinical documentation, communication and teamwork skills
• Patient-centered approach with strong assessment and critical thinking abilities
