Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering effective patient care and treatment plans
- Implement therapeutic exercises, gait training, and modalities as instructed by the therapist
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately in the medical record
- Educate patients and families on home exercises, safety, and long-term mobility strategies
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
- Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and safe for patient use
- Maintain infection control standards and a safe therapeutic environment
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility to obtain licensure in North Carolina
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Comfortable providing care in an inpatient rehabilitation/contract setting
- Ability to work the listed schedule (Sunday through Saturday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) for the 13-week assignment
- Strong communication and documentation skills; team player attitude
Education
- Associate degree or graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise prescription and gait training techniques
- Familiarity with modalities commonly used in rehab and outpatient settings
- Proficient in patient transfers, body mechanics, and safe mobility assistance
- Basic knowledge of EMR documentation and professional clinical charting
- Understanding of HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety best practices
- Effective patient and family education skills with a compassionate approach
