Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, patient-centered Med-Surg nursing care for orthopedic and medical-surgical patients
• Manage and prioritize a patient load (typically ~6:1) while ensuring safety and quality outcomes
• Collaborate with PCTs, unit secretaries, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions and patient status using Meditech
• Perform bedside procedures as appropriate and support physicians when needed
• Triage changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications and discharge instructions
• Model professionalism, maintain required certifications (BLS) and contribute to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (eligible to work in Kentucky or compact state as required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience, preferably in Med-Surg or orthopedics
• BLS certification (required)
• Comfortable using Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Ability to manage a Med-Surg patient load and work collaboratively in a team
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to float to inpatient units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and orthopedics exposure
• Patient assessment, medication administration and clinical decision-making
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation and electronic charting
• Strong teamwork, communication and delegation skills with PCTs and techs
• Familiarity with bedside procedures and inpatient unit workflow
• Adaptability for rotating schedules and weekend coverage
