Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered Med/Surg nursing care for adults, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Assess and monitor patient condition, interpret data, and communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to create and follow individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions, and self-care strategies
• Participate in shift handoffs and maintain clear, timely documentation to support continuity of care
• Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers in an efficient, compassionate manner

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) credential
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Current or eligible for RN licensure in Tennessee (or compact RN license where applicable)
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) for the assignment duration
• Strong clinical assessment, time management, and communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med/Surg clinical knowledge, including post-op care and common medical conditions
• Medication administration and IV therapy familiarity
• Patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting care clearly
• Teamwork, prioritization, and the ability to triage effectively under pressure
• Patient education and discharge planning skills
