Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status using GE fetal monitors and AWHONN best practices to ensure the safest outcomes
• Provide skilled hands-on support during vaginal deliveries and C-sections, collaborating closely with OB providers
• Deliver high-quality newborn and postpartum care, including stabilization, assessment, and family education
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Meditech/CPN to support continuity of care
• Respond rapidly to emergent situations using ACLS/NRP protocols and calm, decisive action
• Advocate for patients and families, offering compassionate education and emotional support throughout labor and postpartum
• Participate in unit safety and quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes and team performance
• Mentor and collaborate with colleagues across day and night shifts to sustain a cohesive, high-performing unit

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Virginia) or eligible to obtain one
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on labor & delivery experience (required)
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification (required)
• Experience with Meditech/CPN electronic medical records and GE fetal monitors
• Comfort working in a high-volume LDRP environment — prior LDRP experience is a plus
• Strong assessment, triage and critical thinking skills in maternal-newborn care

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in fetal monitoring interpretation and labor progression
• Skilled in vaginal delivery and cesarean assistance
• Newborn assessment and postpartum care best practices
• Proficient documentation in Meditech and CPN
• Familiarity with GE fetal monitoring systems
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate with families clearly
