Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour nights; specific days scheduled per assignment)

Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients
- Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to create and update individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
- Advocate for patient safety and quality of care on every shift
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia or ability to obtain promptly
- Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other certifications preferred when applicable
- Experience with electronic medical records and standard Med-Surg equipment
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
- Proficiency in medication administration and IV therapy
- Familiarity with patient monitoring systems and documentation standards
- Ability to perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and triage effectively
- Skilled at patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
- Time management and delegation skills to support safe patient loads
