Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor post-operative orthopedic patients to ensure safe recovery
• Provide compassionate post-operative care including pain management and mobility support
• Perform thorough documentation using Meditech to maintain accurate patient records
• Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Lead bedside shift reports and engage in AIDET communications to enhance patient experience
• Conduct safety rounding and follow established protocols to maintain patient safety
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge instructions, and home safety

Qualifications

• Current RN license (valid in the state where you will practice)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, ideally in med-surg or orthopedic care
• Experience caring for post-operative orthopedic patients
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and excellent patient communication
• Meditech experience preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Med Surg and orthopedic nursing principles and post-op care protocols
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation systems
• Patient assessment and clinical decision making for post-operative patients
• Familiarity with general nursing equipment used for hip, knee, spine and ortho care
• Strong time management, prioritization, and teamwork skills
• Patient experience practices including bedside shift report and AIDET
