Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess neurological and trauma patients, recognizing subtle changes and escalating care when needed
• Perform and document skilled nursing interventions such as central line dressing changes and wound care
• Assist with procedures including bedside lumbar punctures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Manage tube feedings and enteral nutrition safely and accurately
• Insert and manage Foley catheters according to protocol and best practices
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
• Accurately document patient care and assessments in the Meditech electronic medical record
• Provide compassionate patient and family education, helping them understand care plans and recovery goals

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience, with Neuro/Trauma or Med Surg experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven experience with Meditech or similar EMR systems
• Comfortable assisting with bedside procedures such as lumbar punctures
• Strong teamwork, communication, and compassionate patient care skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment skills and familiarity with trauma care principles
• Experience with central lines, feeding pumps and enteral tubes, wound care, and Foley management
• Ability to use Meditech for documentation, orders, and charting
• Solid clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management
• Excellent verbal and written communication for handoffs and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Calm, patient-centered approach with high emotional intelligence
• Ability to work effectively on a busy 18-bed med-surg neuro/trauma unit
• Adaptability to rotating schedules and occasional weekend coverage
