Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 25-bed Oncology Care Unit
• Access and manage portacaths safely and confidently, or learn the technique with on-site guidance
• Document all patient care accurately in Meditech to ensure continuity and quality
• Monitor and respond to patient condition changes, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate patient ratios (typically 1:4–1:5) while delivering high-quality assessments and interventions
• Support unit initiatives such as new equipment adoption and updated clinical workflows

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (oncology experience preferred)
• Current CPR/BLS certification required
• Portacath access skills preferred, or willingness to learn and be trained on site
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Comfort and ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in rotating weekend coverage

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong oncology nursing knowledge and patient assessment skills
• Competence or willingness to learn portacath access and vascular access care
• Proficient documentation skills in Meditech or equivalent EMR
• Ability to manage multiple patients with safe clinical decision-making
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital unit
