Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality MedSurg nursing care for adult patients with varied diagnoses
• Manage post-anesthesia and recovery patients safely and efficiently during night shifts
• Assess patients, develop nursing plans, and implement evidence-based interventions
• Document patient care and clinical changes accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure smooth patient transitions
• Float between units within your scope to meet patient care needs and maintain 1:5 patient ratios
• Participate in orientation activities and complete the required open-book skills exam with demonstrated competency

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for Nebraska submission
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (MedSurg experience required/preferred)
• BLS certification required at time of submission
• Driver's license required at time of submission to verify radius eligibility
• Comfortable with EPIC electronic charting
• Able to float between MedSurg and Post Anesthesia/Recovery units as needed
• Willingness to complete orientation and pass a skills assessment (90% pass requirement)
• Charge nurse experience and oncology exposure are a plus, with at least 1 year for charge roles

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required for this role; relevant nursing diploma or associate degree acceptable

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg assessment and intervention skills
• Experience with post-anesthesia/recovery care and monitoring
• Familiarity with EPIC charting workflows and documentation
• Competence using basic respiratory support such as nasal cannula
• Ability to prioritize and manage a 1:5 patient ratio safely
• Good communication and teamwork skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
• Adaptability to float between units and handle varied patient types including oncology overflow
