Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the direction of the supervising PT
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and mobility tasks
- Implement and document treatment plans, tracking patient progress and outcomes
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
- Maintain a safe environment by properly using and maintaining equipment and following protocols
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Virginia or ability to obtain state licensure
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Completion of an accredited PTA program
- Previous experience in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with patients and staff
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise techniques and modalities commonly used in rehab
- Knowledge of safe patient handling, transfers, and gait training
- Familiarity with documenting treatment plans and progress in electronic health records
- Ability to adapt care to meet individual patient goals and needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork mindset
