Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function to create meaningful, patient-centered plans
- Design and implement individualized therapy interventions that help patients regain independence
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and family members to coordinate care and set measurable goals
- Document progress accurately and timely in the patient record to support continuity of care
- Provide education and coaching to caregivers and staff to extend therapy gains beyond sessions
- Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to advocate for patient needs and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
- Valid Massachusetts SLP license (or compact/state equivalent) required
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred but strong clinical experience will be considered
- Experience with dysphagia management, cognitive-communication disorders, and rehabilitation populations
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain per facility policy
- Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort using electronic health records
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in evaluation and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders
- Familiarity with rehab and post-acute care workflows in skilled nursing settings
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills for working with patients and caregivers
- Solid clinical reasoning, goal writing, and outcome tracking
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic care environment
