Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ mobility and functional status to create meaningful intervention plans
- Implement therapeutic techniques to improve strength, balance, and independence
- Collaborate closely with physical therapists, nursing staff, and families for coordinated care
- Document patient progress clearly and promptly in the medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs and safety strategies
- Support the facility’s rehabilitation goals and contribute to a positive patient experience
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Massachusetts or eligible for state licensure
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Prior experience in outpatient, skilled nursing, or rehab settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Valid state-required immunizations and background checks per facility policy
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)
- Completion of state PTA licensure requirements (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of therapeutic exercise, modalities, gait training, and transfers
- Comfortable with patient documentation in electronic medical records
- Ability to adapt interventions to meet individual patient goals
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and prioritization skills
- Compassionate patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
