Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage incoming patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced ER environment
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to stabilize patients
- Administer medications and treatments safely following facility protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and aftercare plans
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California required
- Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or required depending on unit needs
- Previous emergency department experience preferred (per diem-friendly to experienced RNs)
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-moving team
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage and emergency nursing assessment
- IV insertion, medication administration, and wound care
- Familiarity with electronic health records and charting best practices
- Excellent communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-acuity situations
