Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to support patients' functional independence
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and therapeutic exercises tailored to individual goals
- Document patient progress and communicate changes in condition timely and accurately
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create cohesive care plans
- Educate patients and families on techniques, adaptive equipment, and home strategies for continued progress
- Maintain professional standards, compliance, and a safe therapeutic environment
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)
- Must have or be able to obtain a New Mexico caregivers account as noted in order requirements
- Active state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in New Mexico
- Experience in transitional care or inpatient rehab preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program (associate degree or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic approaches for functional independence and ADL training
- Skilled in patient handling, transfers, and positioning for safety
- Proficient clinical documentation and ability to track measurable patient outcomes
- Ability to educate patients and families in clear, compassionate ways
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced transitional rehab environment
