Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions focused on substance use and mental health
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization when clients present acute needs
• Collaborate with nursing, custody, and program staff to coordinate comprehensive care
• Document clinical progress, treatment planning, and discharge summaries in a timely, compliant manner
• Lead or participate in trainings and staff development activities during the orientation period
• Advocate for clients’ needs within the facility and support transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active LCSW credential (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) — appropriate for practice in California
• Experience or demonstrated competence in mental health and substance abuse treatment
• Comfort working within a structured correctional/substance abuse treatment setting
• Ability to complete the provided 2-week training/orientation
• Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with treatment planning

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and treatment planning for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Individual and group therapy modalities used in substance abuse treatment
• Crisis management and de-escalation techniques
• Trauma-informed care principles and culturally responsive practice
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
• Training delivery and staff mentoring during orientation
