Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care on the telemetry unit
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes in telemetry
- Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to orders and protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and other nurses to coordinate care plans
- Document patient status, interventions, and responses accurately in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and discharge planning
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — California license required
- Telemetry experience or comfort with cardiac monitoring (prior telemetry floor experience preferred)
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable upon hire
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work nights and adapt to per-diem scheduling needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in telemetry rhythm recognition and cardiac monitoring principles
- Skilled in patient assessment, IV therapy, and medication administration
- Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and charting
- Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies
- Ability to respond effectively in emergent situations and escalate appropriately
