Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any concerns to nursing staff
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients
- Document care and communicate clearly with nurses and the interdisciplinary team
- Support infection control practices and follow facility protocols
- Preserve patient dignity and promote independence whenever possible
- Respond promptly and professionally to patient needs and requests
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (California preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification as required by facility
- Ability to work a 12-hour day shift and reliably arrive on scheduled dates
- Current immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Previous experience in a long-term care or acute care setting is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient handling, transfers, and safe body mechanics
- Knowledgeable about basic infection control and hygiene practices
- Comfortable taking vital signs and observing patient condition
- Familiarity with electronic charting and basic documentation
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with patients and families
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
