Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients in accordance with care plans and facility policies
• Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
• Support safe patient transfers and positioning using appropriate body mechanics
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and communicate clearly during shift handoffs
• Help create a comfortable, respectful environment for patients and families

Qualifications

• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of California
• Current basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification (preferred or required per facility)
• Clean background check and up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients during a 12-hour overnight shift

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) and completion of an accredited CNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and patient hygiene needs
• Basic clinical observation skills — vital signs, skin integrity, and patient comfort
• Comfortable working independently on per diem shifts and escalating concerns appropriately
• Good documentation habits and clear verbal/written communication
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds
