Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, efficient emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
- Rapidly assess and triage patients to prioritize treatment and ensure safety
- Administer medications, start IVs, and manage emergency interventions per protocol
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate patient care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EHR
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and next steps
- Maintain a calm, organized response during high-acuity situations and emergencies
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in California (or compact privileges where applicable)
- Previous emergency department nursing experience preferred
- Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable with IV therapy, urgent assessment, and emergency interventions
- Professional, patient-focused attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Available for per-diem single-day coverage, including short-notice assignments
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred
- Ongoing clinical education and certifications encouraged
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage and emergency assessment
- IV/medication administration and monitoring
- Familiarity with emergency protocols and rapid response
- Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Accurate EHR documentation and charting
- Ability to prioritize in fast-paced, high-acuity settings
