Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients promptly and accurately to prioritize care in a busy emergency environment
- Deliver evidence-based nursing interventions and monitor patient responses to treatments
- Establish and maintain IV access, administer medications, and manage acute clinical needs
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate efficient patient flow
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient status clearly and timely in the electronic record
- Provide compassionate patient and family education during fast-paced encounters
- Respond to emergency codes and crisis situations with calm, competent action
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
- Comfortable and experienced working in emergency nursing or acute care settings
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to per diem scheduling needs
- Excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and teamwork mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required/preferred depending on facility policies
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in triage, rapid assessment, and prioritization of emergency patients
- Competent in IV therapy, medication administration, wound care, and basic procedures
- Familiarity with electronic charting systems and accurate clinical documentation
- Strong situational awareness, delegation, and the ability to work under pressure
- Customer-focused bedside manner while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced unit
