Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Assist with mobility and safe transfers to promote independence
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Document care activities clearly and timely in resident records
- Support mealtime assistance and monitor dietary needs
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Communicate with residents, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care
- Respond quickly and calmly to resident needs and emergencies
Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential
- Current state CNA certification or eligibility to obtain one in New Mexico
- Comfort and ability to work overnight 12-hour shifts (Sunday, Friday, Saturday)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program and active CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident assistance
- Ability to take and interpret basic vital signs
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safe patient handling
- Basic charting and documentation skills; ability to learn electronic health record systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner
- Time management and prioritization during busy night shifts
