Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill ICU patients
- Monitor and interpret advanced hemodynamic and ventilator data to guide care
- Administer medications and titrate drips safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and update care plans
- Respond to emergencies and participate in rapid response/Code Blue situations when needed
- Document care clearly in the electronic health record and communicate changes at handoff
- Educate patients and families with compassion during stressful ICU stays
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse license valid in California
- Prior ICU experience preferred; confident caring for critically ill adults
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to act in high-acuity situations
- Ability to work independently on night shifts and communicate effectively with team members
- Current immunizations and health screening as required by facility
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort with ventilator management and arterial line/central line monitoring
- Familiarity with vasoactive medication titration and advanced cardiac life support
- Skilled in critical care assessment and trend interpretation
- Proficient with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with patients, families, and staff
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple high-acuity patients safely
