Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed nursing care for patients within the MST specialty
- Perform comprehensive assessments and continuously monitor patient status throughout the shift
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care in the medical record
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, patient-centered care
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns when needed
- Educate patients and families with clarity and empathy about care plans and follow-up
- Follow established MST protocols and contribute to a safe, respectful environment for patients
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (or compact RN authorization where applicable)
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or as required by unit
- Experience working with MST program patients or in a trauma-informed care setting preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute patient needs and prioritize in fast-paced settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to work overnight shifts and provide reliable weekend coverage
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- Completion of state-required continuing education and certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid patient assessment and critical thinking skills
- Competence in IV therapy, medication administration, and basic wound care
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Trauma-informed care principles and sensitivity to patients with complex needs
- Effective time management, triage, and emergency response abilities
- Professional bedside manner and patient/family education skills
