Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and create individualized treatment plans for patients with communication and swallowing disorders
• Deliver evidence-based speech and language therapy to pediatric and/or adult clients within the facility
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support positive outcomes
• Document therapy sessions, progress notes and discharge summaries accurately and timely
• Educate patients, families and caregivers on strategies to support communication and swallowing at home
• Participate in team meetings, case reviews and quality improvement initiatives to enhance care

Qualifications

• Valid state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in Maine
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred
• Experience working in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Current CPR/first aid certification or willingness to obtain if required by facility

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of evidence-based speech, language and swallowing interventions
• Skilled in conducting standardized and informal assessments
• Proficient documentation and electronic health record skills
• Ability to adapt therapy to individual patient needs and cognitive levels
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients, families and interdisciplinary staff
