Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage emergency patients promptly and accurately to prioritize care
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely according to protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and the ED team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
- Perform focused exams, document findings, and update the care plan in a timely way
- Stabilize critical patients and facilitate rapid transfers when higher-level care is needed
- Provide compassionate education and support to patients and families during stressful moments
- Maintain situational awareness in the fast-paced ER environment and contribute to a culture of safety
Qualifications
- Current RN license valid in California
- Minimum ER clinical experience preferred (per-diem roles welcome even if shifting back into ED work)
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
- Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort managing acute, undifferentiated presentations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to perform under pressure
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to complete facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in emergency nursing workflows and triage principles
- Skill with IV starts, medication administration, and common ED procedures
- Knowledge of ACLS algorithms and critical care stabilization techniques
- Comfort using electronic medical records for documentation and orders
- Ability to prioritize rapidly and multitask in a dynamic, unpredictable environment
- Compassionate patient interaction and clear communication with families and clinicians
