Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate basic patient care and support daily living activities with dignity and respect.
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility to keep patients comfortable and safe.
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
- Support safe transfers and positioning, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Maintain clean, safe patient environments by following infection control and safety protocols.
- Communicate clearly and courteously with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Document patient care and observations in a timely, accurate manner according to facility guidelines.
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant) valid in California.
- Completion of a state- or employer-recognized CNA training program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or able to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to pass required background checks, TB screening, and immunization requirements.
- Dependable, patient-focused, and able to work independently on per diem shifts.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a state-approved CNA program.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care principles and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling techniques.
- Comfortable taking and recording vital signs and observing/reporting patient changes.
- Good interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and clinical teams.
- Basic documentation skills and attention to detail for accurate charting.
