Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead infection prevention activities across the hospital, with a special focus on the operating room and sterile processing
- Monitor infection surveillance data and identify trends to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with surgical teams and SPD staff to ensure sterile technique and compliance with protocols
- Develop and deliver targeted education and training to clinical staff on infection control best practices
- Investigate and manage potential exposures and outbreaks, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Participate in policy review and quality improvement initiatives to reduce infection risk
Qualifications
- Experience working in infection control in a hospital setting, with demonstrated work history in OR and sterile processing
- Current RN license in good standing is preferred
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is a plus
- Strong clinical communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable with surveillance systems, data interpretation and reporting
Education
- Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Infection prevention and control principles and surveillance
- Operating room workflows and sterile processing practices
- Policy development, staff education and quality improvement
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret clinical data and translate findings into action
