Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate and manage cardiopulmonary bypass equipment (Spectrum Quantum HLM) for cardiac surgeries
• Initiate and manage ECMO when clinically indicated, ensuring safe patient support
• Support and monitor procedures including CABG, MVR, AVR, aortic dissection repairs and TAVR
• Manage autotransfusion devices (CATS Cell Saver) and extracorporeal support systems (Cardiohelp, Cardioquip)
• Accurately document perfusion records in Viper/Spectrum and Meditech to support continuity of care
• Participate in shared on-call coverage and respond professionally during urgent surgical needs
• Maintain and troubleshoot perfusion equipment and adhere to unit guidelines and safety policies
• Communicate clearly and effectively with the surgical team, anesthesia and perioperative staff to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) — required
• Missouri Perfusion License — required
• Minimum 5 years CCP experience (as stated in the hiring profile)
• Proven experience with Spectrum HLM (mandatory)
• Hands-on experience with CABG, MVR, AVR, aortic dissection cases and ECMO initiation
• Familiarity with CATS Cell Saver, Cardiohelp and Cardioquip systems
• Comfortable with electronic documentation systems (Viper/Spectrum, Meditech)
• BLS certification (listed under hospital specifics)
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team-based OR environment
• On-call experience and willingness to participate in shared weekly/weekend call

Knowledge & Skills

• Perfusion and cardiopulmonary bypass management
• ECMO initiation and extracorporeal support principles
• Intraoperative monitoring and rapid clinical decision-making
• Operation of Spectrum Quantum HLM and similar heart-lung machines
• Use of CATS Cell Saver, Cardiohelp and Cardioquip devices
• Electronic documentation in Viper/Spectrum and Meditech
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for OR teamwork
• Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and adherence to unit policies
