Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high standards of care
- Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
- Coordinate and lead clinical education and competency assessments for OT staff
- Oversee policy and procedure related to scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
- Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with skilled, evidence-based interventions
- Lead program development initiatives and handle assigned administrative tasks (approximately 20% time)
- Ensure department compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and professional standards
- Promote clear, timely documentation and effective discharge planning to optimize patient transitions
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
- Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California (per State Practice Act) (required)
- Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation support staff, with demonstrated clinical leadership
- Strong background in patient evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and policy/procedure oversight in rehab services
- Membership in AOTA preferred
- Comfortable balancing clinical caseload with administrative and program development responsibilities
Education
- Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of occupational therapy principles, evaluation, and treatment
- Clinical supervision and competency assessment skills
- Skilled in documentation, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures for quality care
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Experience with program development and administrative oversight
