Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation services to student-athletes and active patients
- Cover athletic events and after-school activities at the contracted high school, ensuring on-site medical readiness
- Assess and manage concussions, monitor symptoms, and supervise safe return-to-play progressions
- Perform musculoskeletal examinations and develop individualized treatment plans
- Document evaluations and treatments accurately and communicate care plans to athletes, parents, coaches, and care teams
- Deliver occupational health services including post-offer employment testing (POETs), desk assessments, and functional progress assessments
- Act as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic: take histories, assist with scheduling surgeries, and educate patients
- Coordinate coverage schedules and collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuous patient care
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology required
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience
- Current Athletic Trainer license in Wisconsin required
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in musculoskeletal examination and concussion evaluation
- Skilled in injury prevention and rehabilitation strategies
- Knowledgeable in emergency care and basic occupational health practices
- Comfortable performing functional progress assessments and POETs
- Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency for documentation and scheduling
- Excellent interpersonal communication, compassion, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience functioning as a physician extender in an orthopedic setting
