Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide engaging clinical education and training to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
- Partner with clinical leaders to develop, standardize, and evaluate clinical competencies
- Design and implement curriculum and training programs that support quality patient care and staff development
- Support and coordinate effective preceptorships and student clinical experiences with UAA and UAS
- Serve as a key member of the Clinical Nursing Education program and collaborate on system-wide projects
- Use evidence-based practices to improve professional development activities and patient outcomes
- Act as a liaison for additional clinical education opportunities and promote SEARHC standards of excellence
Qualifications
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing
- Current, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- Clinical competency completion required within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
- Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
- 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced by supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical education, curriculum development, and competency assessment
- Adult and geriatric nursing best practices for long-term care
- Evidence-based practice and quality improvement approaches
- Strong oral and written communication and teaching skills
- Experience with multiple training modalities including in-person teaching and skills fairs
- Familiarity with tools like TEAMS, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
- Policy compliance, program standardization, and accreditation-focused training
