Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to complex ICU patients, including post-operative CABG and transplant cases
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data to guide timely clinical interventions
• Manage ventilated patients and perform advanced ventilator care
• Support and participate in ECMO and other advanced cardiovascular therapies as needed
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons and the interdisciplinary team to create and execute patient-focused plans of care
• Deliver clear bedside shift reports and maintain updated whiteboard communication with the team
• Document patient care accurately using the Meditech system and follow unit policies and floating guidelines
• Contribute to a respectful, professional environment where patient experience and team civility are priorities

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Comfort working in a very high-acuity unit (ECMO, heart transplant, CVICU exposure highly valued)
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Ability to work rotating nights and weekends and follow unit floating policies

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and ICU best practices
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Advanced ventilator management for mechanically ventilated patients
• Post-operative cardiac care (CABG) and familiarity with cardiac procedures
• ECMO fundamentals and caring for high-acuity cardiac/transplant patients
• Electronic documentation using Meditech
• Strong bedside communication and teamwork, including shift-to-shift reports
