Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for Progressive Care Unit patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to changes promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and per protocol
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the medical record
• Act quickly in emergencies and escalate concerns to ensure patient safety
• Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or compact RN license eligible
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (PCU/step-down experience preferred)
• Current BLS; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and adapting to rotating schedules
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize
• Good communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience relevant to PCU care
• Proficiency in IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion management
• Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse patients and care teams
