Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to radiation oncology patients
- Plan and coordinate individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team
- Assess patients regularly and respond to changes in condition with sound clinical judgment
- Supervise and mentor support staff while promoting a safe, efficient care environment
- Adhere to universal precautions and infection control policies to protect patients and staff
- Document patient care and treatment plans accurately and in a timely manner
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, symptom management, and follow-up care
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support services to ensure seamless care transitions
Qualifications
- Current RN license in Ohio or eligibility for Ohio licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; oncology certifications are a plus
- Previous oncology experience preferred, especially in radiation oncology
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong clinical judgment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate multidisciplinary care
- Comfort with electronic health records and standard nursing documentation practices
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of oncology nursing principles and radiation therapy basics
- Patient assessment, care planning, and symptom management expertise
- Infection control practices and universal precautions proficiency
- Ability to supervise and coordinate care across disciplines
- Effective patient and family education skills with empathy and clarity
