Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapy interventions for adult and pediatric patients as indicated by physician orders
- Manage ventilators and advanced airway equipment, adjusting settings and performing assessments to optimize patient outcomes
- Deliver specialized treatments such as aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance with skill and compassion
- Perform thorough respiratory assessments and document findings, trends, and responses to therapy clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—nurses, physicians, and therapists—to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Respond to respiratory emergencies and code situations with calm, decisive action and evidence-based interventions
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans, home equipment use, and disease management to support recovery and independence
Qualifications
- Current RRT credential (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical respiratory therapy experience — you’ve got hands-on care covered
- Active Respiratory Care license or ability to obtain licensure in Florida prior to start
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
- Strong critical thinking, patient assessment, and airway management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills — you’ll be part of an engaged care team
Education
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Diploma, or Certificate from an accredited program (or equivalent)
- RRT credential (professional certification) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation modes
- Knowledge of respiratory assessment techniques, arterial blood gas interpretation, and ventilator weaning
- Skilled in oxygen therapy, nebulized medications, and airway clearance techniques
- Familiarity with documentation systems and clear charting practices
- Ability to triage respiratory emergencies and function effectively under pressure
- Patient education skills to guide discharge planning and home respiratory care
