Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, triage, and initial evaluations for urgent care patients of all ages
- Provide timely nursing interventions including IV initiation, medication administration, and monitoring
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly and professionally in the medical record
- Coordinate care and referrals, tracking outcomes and communicating status to providers
- Deliver telephone triage and follow-up calls with clear, compassionate guidance
- Maintain infection control, stock, and safe clinical environments
- Participate in team improvement efforts, quality initiatives, and clinical competency maintenance
- Serve as a point of contact for care coordination and assist with vaccine coordination as needed
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hires must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must have an active Alaska license)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
- Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency to be completed within required timelines
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift/move up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced urgent care setting
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible for NCLEX)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment, prioritization, and triage expertise
- IV therapy skills including insertion, maintenance, and infusion monitoring
- Medication administration via oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal and IV routes
- Strong clinical documentation and charting skills
- Infection control principles and clinic safety practices
- Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and teamwork
- Familiarity with EMR systems and referral tracking processes
- Critical thinking, multitasking, and time-management in urgent situations
