Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' functional abilities and design individualized OT treatment plans
• Implement therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living and independence
• Use clinical reasoning to adapt activities, equipment, and environments for safety and success
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies to support recovery and home safety
• Document treatment progress accurately and timely in the facility electronic medical record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional standards

Qualifications

• Current Occupational Therapist (OT) license in Texas or eligibility to obtain one quickly
• Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT, MOT, or OTD) from an accredited program
• Active certification (NBCOT preferred) or pursuing certification
• Clinical experience in acute care, inpatient rehab, home health, or similar settings preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Willingness to complete a 13-week contract assignment and provide high-quality patient care

Education

• Bachelor's, Master's (MOT) or Doctorate (OTD) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment skills for ADLs, IADLs, and functional mobility
• Proficiency with activity-based interventions, therapeutic use of self, and adaptive equipment
• Skilled in splinting, positioning, cognitive-perceptual approaches, and energy conservation techniques
• Clear, timely documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
• Time management and caseload prioritization to meet patient needs efficiently
