Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality direct patient care for Med-Surg patients with compassion and clinical skill
• Plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care, developing and adjusting individualized care plans
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Perform timely, accurate documentation and maintain patient confidentiality
• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, educational, and discharge needs and prioritize care
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure continuity of care
• Respond calmly and resourcefully in emergencies and support a safe environment
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and team meetings to support continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience (Med-Surg experience strongly preferred)
• BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification required
• Abuse Reporter Certification required within 6 months of hire
• ACLS certification preferred
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
• Willingness to work night shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays

• Strong patient assessment and prioritization skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy proficiency
• Solid infection control practices and adherence to policies
• Clear and compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
• Accurate documentation and charting skills
• Ability to remain calm and resourceful in emergency situations
• Teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to work with limited supervision
