Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the surgical services team to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered care.
- Oversee circulating RN activities in the OR and ensure standards of practice are met.
- Supervise and mentor staff, delegating duties and maintaining high operational standards.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, PACU and ancillary departments to coordinate care.
- Identify department problems, develop and implement short- and long-term solutions.
- Ensure compliance with licensing, AHA certifications, and facility policies.
- Maintain composure during emergencies and guide the team through critical situations.
- Manage workflow to optimize patient throughput and staff effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
- CNOR certification (preferred)
- One year of Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience (preferred)
- Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience (preferred)
- Strong written and oral English communication skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of surgical services and perioperative workflows
- Experience as a circulating RN in the operating room
- Strong team supervision and delegation skills
- Ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions
- Calm, effective emergency response and decision-making
- Excellent collaboration with physicians, nursing peers and ancillary departments
- Familiarity with patient safety, infection control and regulatory compliance
- Physical ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds as required
