Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical support and mentorship to new hires, experienced staff, and students
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and continuing education programs
- Serve as a clinical practice resource—coach staff on complex patient care and medication administration
- Analyze patient data to identify practice gaps and design targeted interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based standards of care
- Facilitate training for new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment
- Perform quality control audits and report concerns to leadership to maintain regulatory compliance
- Advocate for patients and families while promoting ethical standards and organizational mission
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Alaska
- Nursing degree required; BSN preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
- Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC and High Risk Competency - SEARHC (as required)
- Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings (preferred)
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Education
- Nursing degree required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards, procedures, and safe medication administration
- Skill in comprehensive patient assessment and managing acutely ill patients
- Experience with evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
- Ability to design and deliver effective clinical education and orientation
- Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to motivate and mentor staff to achieve clinical excellence
