Surgical Technologist - First Assist

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Day with on-call rotation (approximately 2 call shifts/week, includes weekday nights and weekends)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons as the First Assist in orthopedic, neuro/spine, robotic, and general cases
- Prepare and maintain the operating room and robotic equipment for scheduled procedures
- Manage instruments, maintain sterile fields, and anticipate surgeon needs during cases
- Document perioperative care accurately in the Meditech EMR
- Collaborate closely with RN, surgical assistants, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth case flow
- Participate in call rotation and provide reliable coverage for nights and weekends when scheduled
- Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement in the OR
Qualifications
- Virginia license required
- CST/ORT certification with First Assist specialty required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant OR experience; robotic, ortho, and neuro/spine experience required
- Comfortable and experienced with robotic-assisted surgeries and OR equipment
- Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR preferred
- Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability in a fast-paced OR environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Experienced with robotic surgical systems and instrumentation
- Skilled in orthopedic and neuro/spine procedure workflows
- Fluent in sterile technique and operating room protocols
- Proficient in perioperative documentation using Meditech
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to support the surgical team
- Ability to handle call responsibilities including nights and weekends
