Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency setting with compassion and clinical excellence
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and optimize patient flow
- Perform focused patient assessments and communicate changes to physicians and mid-level providers
- Administer IV therapies and operate manual and electronic medical equipment safely
- Respond rapidly and appropriately to changes in patient condition and treatment response
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, allied health staff, and registration staff
- Provide direction to ED techs and assist with workflow to maintain quality and safety
- Document care clearly and participate in pre-employment and ongoing competency requirements
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN license required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and BSN preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, mid-level providers, patients and families
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
- Triage and rapid patient assessment skills
- IV skills and proficiency with common ED equipment
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize under pressure
- Basic computer skills for documentation and charting
- Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
- Leadership skills to direct ED techs and support staff
