Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency setting with compassion and clinical excellence
• Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and optimize patient flow
• Perform focused patient assessments and communicate changes to physicians and mid-level providers
• Administer IV therapies and operate manual and electronic medical equipment safely
• Respond rapidly and appropriately to changes in patient condition and treatment response
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, allied health staff, and registration staff
• Provide direction to ED techs and assist with workflow to maintain quality and safety
• Document care clearly and participate in pre-employment and ongoing competency requirements

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN license required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and BSN preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, mid-level providers, patients and families

Education

• Degree from an accredited nursing program required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
• Triage and rapid patient assessment skills
• IV skills and proficiency with common ED equipment
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize under pressure
• Basic computer skills for documentation and charting
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
• Leadership skills to direct ED techs and support staff
