Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients using sound clinical reasoning to determine physical therapy needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that drive patient progress
- Provide hands-on and therapeutic interventions across inpatient, swing bed, outpatient, and skilled nursing settings
- Document clinical findings and treatment progress accurately in the EMR
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care
- Educate patients and families to support safe discharge and ongoing recovery
- Maintain compliance with California and federal PT regulatory requirements
- Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices
Qualifications
- Active California Physical Therapy License in good standing
- Successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 1+ year of experience in acute care, swing bed/skilled nursing, or outpatient settings
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills
- Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records
- Ability to manage diverse patient populations and diagnoses
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Education
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient evaluation and assessment
- Treatment planning and implementation
- Clinical documentation best practices
- EMR proficiency and comfort with digital workflows
- Clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice
- Clear communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
